Engineering Philosophy

Reliability

Systems that fail predictably are more valuable than systems that succeed unpredictably. Build for the failure mode first.

Observability

You can't debug what you can't see. Every production system needs structured logs and metrics from day one — not as an afterthought.

Maintainability

Code is read far more than it's written. Explicit intent and consistent structure reduce cognitive load for every person who comes after you.

Pragmatism

Good architecture that ships beats perfect architecture that doesn't. Tradeoffs are the job — the goal is to make them consciously.

Business Value

Engineering exists to solve real problems. Every technical decision should be traceable to a measurable outcome for the product or the team.
